Wiggins, Childs, Pantazis, Fisher, & Goldfarb is headquartered in the historic Kress Building located in Downtown Birmingham. The building, built in 1937, was restored by the founding shareholders of the firm in 2003.

The S.H.Kress Five-and-Ten Cent Store was a department store, building by incorporating Bauhaus, Streamline Moderne, and International Style influences. Thriving in Downtown Birmingham’s historic retail and theatre district through the early 1960s, the store eventually closed in 1978. The building was added to the National Register in 1982.

The Kress Building has special meaning to the lawyers of WCPFG because in the Spring of 1963, activists in Birmingham, Alabama launched one of the most influential campaigns of the Civil Rights Movement. Project C, better known as the Birmingham Campaign, began with a series of lunch counter sit-ins, marches on City Hall, and boycotts on downtown merchants to protest segregation. The Kress Building is located at the intersection of many of the seminal events that occurred during this Spring, and served as a major turning point in the Civil Rights Movement.

Today, the lawyers of WCPFG are proud to preserve a piece of Birmingham’s history, and continue to the fight in honor of those that stood up in the name of equality, in the Spring of 1963.
